A Fresh Expression for the Latino Community

La Misión is an Expresiones Divinas, a fresh expression serving the Latino community of New Albany, MS through family, community, and spiritual growth. La Misión currently includes a tutoring program, a food pantry, a clothes pantry, reading and writing skills, spiritual growth, and support to families who have just arrived to the US.

What is the Fresh Expression called?
La Misión

Where is it?
New Albany, MS

Who is it for?
About 23 percent of the students at New Albany Elementary are Latinos. Because of the increasing Hispanic and Latino population, the county needed ministries to serve these students.

What do they do? La Misión started with a summer reading program at the county library. Currently, it includes a tutoring program, a small food pantry, a clothes closet, a Bible Study for women, as well as literacy, heritage and arts initiatives.

She holds a B.A. in English with an emphasis in Professional Writing from Virginia Tech and a Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies from the John Leland Center for Theological Studies.
