The West Georgia Opry at Waco United Methodist Church in Waco, Georgia, is a Fresh Expression of Church for people passionate about gospel, country, and bluegrass music. The event began when pastor and pioneering leader Sharon White discovered a group of musicians that loved to play together but had nowhere to meet.

They now gather regularly at the church building, not just to play together but also for Dinner Church-style meals. What started in September with a few dozen attendees has grown to over 100. They even hosted an all-day festival, making it a vibrant and beloved community event.

“It did not even occur to me. But there was this need in the community for people who love music, and they love gospel music, country music, bluegrass music, all kinds of music, and they just wanted a place to hang out.”

“I haven’t really told anybody this, but the music’s kind of growing on me.”
