Fresh Expressions US is pleased to announce a new Partnership Agreement with the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Bishop Lindsey Davis of the Kentucky United Methodist Church said “Fresh Expressions has given us new strategies to employ as we do the adaptive ministry of reaching the unchurched for Christ.”
This new partnership further extends our growing national cross-denominational network for the Fresh Expressions movement in the United States. National Director Chris Backert is grateful for the momentum.
“Last Spring, The Kentucky United Methodist Church along with Asbury Theological Seminary sponsored our first Vision Day in Kentucky. Now just a few months later, we’re seeing good momentum in the region. The early initiative of Bishop Davis and Paul Brunstetter, Director of New Church Development for the Kentucky United Methodist Church is helping us build a solid coalition.” Brunstetter said: “Given the fragility of the church and the complexity of our culture, Fresh Expressions has given me hope. No matter the size or budget, every church has the capacity to transition away from being an “institutional” church to living out what it means to be the Body of Christ, the “incarnational” church. I believe the Holy Spirit is dawning a new age in Christendom through movements such as Fresh Expressions.”
The partnership helps provide the framework for the development of Fresh Expressions in the region and help sponsor events like the Fresh Expressions National Gathering April 8-9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia.

Fresh Expressions is an international movement of missionary disciples cultivating new kinds of church alongside existing congregations to more effectively engage our growing post-Christian society. Begun in 2004 as an initiative of the Church of England and the British Methodist Church, it has resulted in the birth of thousands of new communities in the UK alone bringing renewal to established churches. Fresh Expressions has spread to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and Germany. In 2010, the movement began taking shape in the US through the vision and generosity of the Baptist General Association of Virginia and a growing number of partners committed to a new era of mission in North America.
